Book 5 - The Simpsons

'The Simpsons' is not a real book, it is more like a comic. It's about a family with Mother, Father, and their 3 Children Lisa, Bart and Megan. Homer Simpson, the father, always does a lot of funny stories like he tries to loose weight or to find a job, but everything just ends up with no effort. His son Bart is also a kind of person who isn't doing usual things. He is going to school, but there, f.e. he has a few enemies, but he always met them ut of school and does some kind of funny or more weird stuff with them together. The whole book contains 6 short comics about that what happens to the family at the moment, and you can also find a few comics about Krusty, The Clown, h is also a character from 'The Simpsons', he has his own TV-Show in the show 'The Simpsons', but he is a very weird character. And you can find 2 short Comics about 'Itchy and Scrachty', a mouse and a cat, who fight each other without any word or a reason.
All in all, the comics are very funny to read and I enjoyed to read them in my free time, because they often made me laugh.

War Poetry Mini Project

Soldiers falling flat on the ground,
dead Soldiers making no sound.
Planes exploding in the Air,
these kind of things just aren't fair.

This think this picture referes to the poem I chose, because it shows two different parties in a War, which are fighting for one Flag. All around them are dead people on the ground, but they are still standing and fighting for their Country, motivated by other soldiers, which are standing a few meters away from them. We really should have respect for these people, who stop thinking and just fight for freedom and risk their life for us.

Book 4 - 'Hitler'

The Book 'Hitler' is kind of a short Autobiography from Adolf Hitler. He was born in Austria in 1889. When he grew up, he was a poor guy, but as soon as the war started in 1914, he was pleased. But he didn't fight for Austria, he crossed the border and joined the German army. In the end of the war, they had rebelled, forced up the 'Kaiser' (Emperor) to leave the country and set up a new government, the Weimar Republic after the town where its parliament met. But it soon became very unpopular, many Germans blamed its leaders for signing the Versailles Treaty with Britain, France, Italy and the United States, because land had been taken because from Germany.That was the Reason, why Hitler went to Munich after the war and went into politics very soon. He started his own German Workers' Party, he spoke in beer-halls, he yelled at the people, and a lot of the people believed him. In 1920 this group joined with the National Socialist Workers' Party, better known as the Nazis. Its leader was Adolf Hitler. He started a revolution against the Weimar Republic, but after a small massaker his Party broken up, but this was not the end of the story. Some government ministers had liked his idea of the rebellion against the Weimar Republic, and that's why he was allowed to do as he liked again, and he became very known all over in Germany. But he gave up the idea of using force, he acted in a way the rich businessmen come over to his side. From a few thousand votes the Nazi votes swelled to a million, and so they became the leaders of the new government in Germany. That was the start of the most horrible time in Germany. In his years of being a chancellor, the Reichstag was on fire, he had to survive the 'night of the long knives' and he started to sent enemies of the Nazies to concentration camps, where over a few hundred thousand people came to death. Most of them were Jewish, because Hitler said, that he wanted to have a 'clean' Germany without any other people from other religions or countries. His biggest 'thing' he did was the Nazi-Soviet Pact, it made it certain that Germany would invade Poland. A few weeks after signing the Pact, Hitler declared war, but Germany lost the war. On a Monday morning, 30 April 1945, he used suicide for ending his life. He could not live with the fear he had after he lost the war.

I liked the book, but it was kind of brutal and there were a lot of pictures in it, which showed a lot of brutal details like the concentration camps, but also nice pictures from the elections. It's very easy written and there are not very much hard words, I understood it very easily.

Book 2 and 3 - Guinness World Records 2011 and 2012

The 'Guinness World Records'-Book 2011 includes a lot of records made by animals, humans or groups of people.
The outside of the book looks like gig fire flames in red, orange and yellow. Every page has got a new title with a lot of records from the same kind.
On every page, there is also a very small record on the top of the page, which contains a big number, which is printed very big, so that you can see it directly after opening the page.
I can't find any bad things about the book. It's very interesting and informative, and it's also very easy to read.

 

In the Book 'Guinness World Records 2012' you can find a lot of new, old and covered records from all over the world.
The layout of this book is very nice to see, and it's split up into different chapters like 'Country Records', 'Human Records' or 'Animal Records'. The outside of the Book is light blue and silver with 3D-looking waterbubbles on it. On every page, you can find a record for every date of the whole year. The most of the records are showing a small picture from the record.
What I don't like is, that a lot of the records from this book you can find in the 'Guinness World Records'-Book from 2011 too, and so it's not that interesting for people, who read the 2012-book already.
But it's very good to read if you are bored of for having fun while reading it.

Book 1 - ´Drachenläufer` (Kite Runner)

The Book ´Kiterunner` is about a small boy from Afghanistan called Amir Jan and its father is a rich political man. He has a very good friend called Hassan who is the son of the butler of Amir's dad and with him, Amir was taking part in a lot of kite competitions, but one day, after they won the competition and Hassan ran to catch the kite which they won, Amir saw what he should never have seen. Since this day, Amir went out of the way from Hassan. Weeks later, Hassan and his dad left Amir's and his Dad's house, and months later, the Russian and the American army move into Afghanistan, and Amir and his Dad left Kabul, the city where they live, too. They moved to America, where Amir's Dad get cancer and died after the marriage of Amir and a beautiful Afghani-girl. 15 years later, Amir got a call from a good old friend from his dad, and he went back to Afghanistan to pick up Hassan's son from an orphanage, because Hassan and his wife were killed by rebels. But before he was able to see the boy, he got into very big trouble with the Taliban, which are making the government now after the war between Russia and America. But Hassan's son can help Amir and Amir got to know that Hassan and he were brothers, and Hassan's son, called Suhrab, is his nephew. Because of the happenings from September 11th, 2001, the Americans started to bomb Afghanistan, and the Taliban had to leave Kabul and two other Afghanistan cities. After Suhrab tried to kill himself, he didn't say anything, but after a garden party from Amir and his wife, Suhrab is living at their house n America now, they take part in a kite competition, and Suhrab was starting to smile and ran for catching the kite, which he won.

I really enjoyed reading the book, it is written very well. It is written in first person and it shows very well the feelings and thoughts of the main character. The narrator describes his environment and the people in a lot of details so you can imagine how everything looks like and that is very impressive because the story of the book is very sad.
